From my Interview day Uni of York have been amazing. There were helpful and friendly staff and students to show you around and make you feel welcome. Freshers week you're assigned STYCs second and third year contacts to help you around at freshers week.

Our stycs really helped me and my housemates to get to know each other as well as introducing us to the local pubs and clubs and looking after us while we were there, making sure we all stuck together and no one got lost or hurt. They introduced us to some great drinking games, without peer pressuring of course. I'm studying a maths degree and the course itself is great.

I'd recommend Uni of York to anyone. In terms of teaching the university is really very good. The facilities are good, and the courses are well designed. The town is also a really nice place, good shops and restaurants. The accommodation however, is very very poor given how expensive it is. The gym facilities are very pricey for what is pretty average.

The nightlife is poor, but you aren't far from Leeds so not the end of the world. All in all, good uni, but you will have to put up with bad nightlife and a high price for everything. In my flat the kitchen is a bit grim, it's liveable but from other kitchens I've seen from other uni's theirs are much nicer. My course is really fun, and the support is really good.
